Hypnos | God of Sleep | Giclée Print

About the artwork

Do you also want the fine art print ‘Hypnos, God of Sleep’ on the wall of your practice room or perhaps in your living room? Hypnosis is derived from the word ‘Hypnos’. The Scottish physician James Braid coined the word for the trance form we now call hypnosis in 1843. This hand-drawn artwork is an asset to the practice space of your interior.

Hypnos: In Greek, it means ‘sleep‘. Hypnos is the god of sleep in Greek mythology. He is often depicted as a young man with two wings, which do not come out publicly from the shoulders but from the head.

Stories about Hypnos frequently tell about poppies. Outside the cave where he has carried fields of poppies. Poppy (Papaversomniferum) refers to the sleep-inducing (opium) effect of poppy seeds. This species is also used as an ornamental plant. It is the symbol of Hypnos, the god of sleep, and of his son Morpheus, the god of dreams.

The artwork is custom-made for Mind Experts created in December 2021.

For the artwork ‘Hypnos’ I’ve used my Charcoal & Graphite brush pack on the iPad.

About the print

Giclée prints signed by hand. The print is 40 x 60 cm and includes a 3 cm border on the top and sides and a 6 cm border at the bottom, to fit in the signature and allow for framing.

Giclée printing is a technique of design on quality paper with high-quality inks in different layers of color. This makes them much nicer than a normal poster print. The colors are more intense and the prints last longer. Giclée is a printing technique that was once developed to make reproductions of works of art, so museum quality.
